SERVICES CAN Include

  • Food Plots

We plant both warm and cool season forages, including annuals and perennials. Typical plantings include soybeans, corn, clover, alfalfa, chicory, turnups, rape, radishes, wheat, oats, sorghum, millet, and sunflower. The key is to plant a diverse combination of forage that will provide nourishment and energy during the high activity and limited food availability periods of the year, namely from the rut to Spring green-up.

  • Soil Analysis

Soil samples are collected well in advance of planting season to allow ample time for the application of lime (pH) and nutrients required to produce a strong food plot stand. In addition, we prefer to utilize analytical labs that are capable of providing an assessment of soil health by measuring organic soil content and CO2 respiration rate. The organic content of your soil directly affects its moisture retention capacity which is critical during periods of low or no rainfall. The CO2 respiration rate is an indication of microbial health and the soil's ability to transfer nutrients from the soil to the root systems of plants. Improved transfer of nutrients to plants leads to a healthier and stronger stand which in turn provides more nourishment and energy per acre for your resident deer herd and turkey population. All soils are not created equal, but that's where we can help.

  • Forestry Mulching

Utilized for a number of critical landscape modifications, including timber stand improvement of young growth forest, re-establishment and expansion of fields for food plots and bedding areas, as well as construction and maintenance of trails and firebreaks.

  • Field Creation and Expansion

Normally performed by using rotary cutters and forestry mulchers to generate more open areas and edge features which generally enhance deer activity and provide more opportunities to plant food plots and construct bedding areas.

  • Bedding Area Construction

Typically achieved by planting native grasses such as Switchgrass, Indiangrass, Big Bluestem, and Little Bluestem; mixed with a few cedars and pines. These types of grasses, sparsely intermixed with conifers, provide a landscape of varying depth and height, thereby attracting and holding deer while also providing adequate escape routes. This kind of landscape also makes excellent turkey brood rearing and quail habitat.

  • Timber Stand Improvement (TSI)

Usually implemented to reduce tree canopy coverage, thus allowing more sunlight to reach the ground and increase vegetation of forbs and grasses which provide improved bedding, nesting, fawning, brood rearing, and native forage.

  • Trail Camera, Mineral Site, and Gravity Feeder Placement

Trail cameras are an absolute necessity to survey deer on your property and identify specific bucks to target or pass until the following season(s). Cellular cameras go a step further by providing real time data and photos that arm you with information necessary to optimize the time and location of your hunts.

Mineral sites and gravity feeders not only supplement a deer's nutritional and energy needs, but also enable trail cameras to capture a comprehensive assessment of the quality, gender, and number of deer in the surrounding area.
